Last week, with the help of Blewt friend Elizabeth McQuern, many of the Blewt folks (Steve Gadlin, Bryan Bowden, Ken Barnard, and myself) got together and filmed a script we wrote together called "Friend of a Friend". I plotted it out, but then they helped with the dialogue. It was a total collaboration and a lot of fun.
We filmed it for a competition called Vidiocy that is pretty intense here in the Chicago comedy community. It will be interesting to see how a bunch of very silly people like us can hold up to some stiff-lipped "we do improv for the ART" film-makers. The finished film is due Friday at midnight. Then 10 finalists are showcased in a theater, and both judges and the audience will vote on the winner.
As I write this, Steve is slaving away at the editing. I've seen some rough footage, and I think it's safe to say that fans of our stuff will get a real kick out of it. And really, there is nothing more fun than making a really silly movie with your friends. I don't want to give too much away, but there's kissing, murder, betrayal, and deviant sexual behavior!
Friend of a Friend!
